Description
“Just when I thought my most exciting picture taking season was over – this beautiful Sharp-shinned Hawk caught some prey and flew to a tree near our chicken coop. The rodents and tiny birds are plentiful near our poultry and it is the perfect rat poison free hunting grounds for raptors. I spent about a half hour with this Hawk as it ate it’s breakfast, blessed by a stellar background of usnea covered trees. I *think* this may be a juvenile that has been hanging around our valley a bit. What is true is any time there is a “hole” created by wildlife that has disappeared, new critters will move in to fill it. After an almost two year absence of Raptors, we finally have some coming around again. They seem to be the young ones, looking for a new home of their own, and I can only hope my neighbors have heard my plea to stop using rat poison so the Raptors can survive.” – Talia Rose, County Line Wild
