“Mink Connection
Though Wikipedia tells me the American Mink normally only vocalizes during close encounters with other minks or predators and that the sounds it emits include piercing shrieks and hisses – that has not been my experience with this one. During both my first encounter and this one yesterday, the Mink talked to me. It perched up on this rock, looked squarely at me, and made the cutest little sounds. It did not appear angry or frightened. But it definitely was communicating something! The first time, it kept fishing for another hour afterwards. Yesterday, it left and went up river a bit. I don’t think it likes when I move down closer to it on the rocks. So, I will travel in a different direction along the river today and give it some space – giving thanks for the amazing encounters we have shared.” – Talia Rose, County Line Wild
