“What a spectacular two Green Heron morning! I went out very early – before the morning sun hit the valley – and found a Green Heron in it’s favorite spot. It once again let me move closer – right across the river – where I sat and watched it for a good half hour. It was still as a statue. I think it thought it was hiding. Then, another one appeared just off to the right about 30 ft away. This one was much more active and a bit lighter in color. I wondered if it was a juvenile (but I suspect – just male & female). It fished and flew from tree to tree and I had a wonderful time watching them both! A long encounter such as this is a rare thing with the elusive and skittish Green Herons. So very wonderful
