“The Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge was much different than any other place I have gone to stalk Bald Eagles. For one thing, there are no trees. This confused me greatly, as I have always looked in trees to find Eagles. I spent the first few hours wandering around, seeing lots of water fowl but few Eagles. The other thing was that Southern Oregon is in a drought just like California. Things were very dry and many of the fields that are usually flooded this time of year were bone dry.
Fortunately I kept asking other photographers were the Eagles were and finally someone directed me to the only stand of trees in a 20 mile radius and sure enough that is where I found the Bald Eagles. These trees were amazing for the variety of wildlife they held! Nests of all shapes and sizes and so many raptors!” – Talia Rose, County Line Wild
